DOMA's Giving Initiatives
A 2021 Year in Review

DOMA GIVES | 2021 A Year in Review

December 28, 2021

The new year is around the corner, and along with it, the perfect opportunity to reflect on 2021. For DOMA Gives this means looking back at the impact some of our charitable initiatives have had in the community. These charitable projects are separate from our corporate giving as they are employee led. As we consider what we have achieved as a team this year we will also taking the time to plan for an even more generous 2022.

This past year (and the one before) has seen some big changes around the world and how we reach out to give in our communities. As a result, DOMA Gives has tried to come up with some new giving opportunities that allow for socially distanced volunteering.

Volunteer and Donation Initiatives

DOMA employees have participated in a variety of volunteer and collection drive events this year. Including:

Trash Employees Helped Remove:

over 115lbs

The Surfrider Foundation hosts a Monthly Beach Clean-up that is open to everyone in the community. Each month the event is hosted at a different coastal area in Virginia Beach, and the Surfrider Foundation provides all of the necessary tools.

In a matter of just two hours, the volunteer team (including DOMA employees) was able to collect over 115lbs of trash that would otherwise end up in Virginia Beach’s oceans. Removing and cataloging this trash helps protect wildlife, and in many cases improves the health and safety of our citizens.

Money Raised:

$3,944

DOMA’s Summer Fitness Challenge had employees teaming up to complete a 38-day virtual race around Hawaii’s Maui island. Using the My Virtual Mission platform, individuals and teams raced to complete a considerable hike of 146.3 miles around the perimeter of Maui. In addition to being a great team-building and fitness opportunity, DOMA decided to add a charitable component to this year’s fitness challenge by donating a dollar for every mile traveled. This means that Veterans Miracle Center and Veteran’s Homefront each received a donation of $1,972 this summer thanks to the efforts of our team.

Money Raised:

$650

In October, the DOMA Gives Team coordinated a virtual raffle to raise money for breast cancer awareness. A large number of employees participated by buying raffle tickets and twelve winners walked away with prizes. The raffle prizes included Echo Dots, jewelry sets, and everything needed for a family fun day at the Hunt Club! Altogether, DOMA raised $575 that will be donated to the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation. Thank you, everyone, for your participation, and we look forward to doing this again next year.

Care Packages Prepared:

200 Packages

Troopster collects and sends items in care packages to the brave men and women of the American military serving overseas.

This Thanksgiving DOMA was proud to have partnered with Troopster to pack and deliver 200 care packages to deployed military personnel.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication and generosity of the DOMA team. Even when hours were long and deadlines were tight, our team found ways to give generously. Whether they contributed their resources or their time, 2021’s successes speak volumes of the giving nature of the DOMA family.
