Talking about Federal government gr0wth can be confusing. However, a good first step towards understanding is knowing these commonly used acronyms:
Federal Growth Acronyms
FAR- Federal Acquisition Regulations
The principal set of rules regarding Government procurement in the United States. It covers many of the contracts issued by the US military and NASA, as well as US civilian federal agencies.
RFP- Request for Proposal
A document that publicly announces that a project is open and seeking bids from contractors.
NAICS- North American Industry Classification System
The standard used in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy.
RFI- Request for Information
A market research tool used for forecasted requirements. Posted early in the acquisition process, before defining a requirement for procurement.
SSN- Source Sought Notices
A market research tool primarily used to identify small businesses capable of performing/providing the requirement. Posted early in the acquisition process, after defining a requirement for procurement.
